I have never met a Stranger
We all have perceptions in our lives that seem very true to us, but could be nothing further from the truth in reality.
Communication is one of those areas where we are often mistaken. Just because we find it easy to talk does not mean that we are actually good communicators. Here are a few areas where many people short. Let’s see how you rate.
DO YOU FREQUENTLY TALK ABOUT THE BAD THINGS GOING ON WITH YOU?
If everyone knows about the latest problem you have with your boss, spouse, children, parents, government, et cetera, then you might be focusing too much on your problems during your standard conversations. Improve communication by talking about the positive things in your life or listen to the other person. If you must mention something negative, make it a quick story with only the major highlights, and move onto something positive.
When meeting a new person, refrain from telling them any of the negative stuff. That is a fast way to lose their interest. Positive people and even most negative people really don’t want to associate with negative people.
DO YOU REBUT PEOPLE’S ANSWERS YOU DON’T AGREE WITH BY STATINGTHE OPPOSING POINTS OF VIEW?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion about things. If everyone agreed with you on every subject, then you would not even be necessary. It is fine to disagree with someone’s view point, but it is not okay to disrespect their views by engaging them in a debate.
The only time you should enter into a debate is when it is someone you already know well enough and the other person welcomes the discussion. At any other time, it demonstrates poor communication skills. www.CommunicationEssence.com
